Wilhelm Von Eiff (1890-1943) was a highly influential German painter and glass artist. He served as a distinguished professor at the Stuttgart Academy of Fine Arts (Kunstgewerbeschule Stuttgart) from 1921 to 1943, where he established a major studio department dedicated to glass art, cutting, and glyptic arts. Von Eiff was particularly celebrated for his mastery of relief cutting, deep wheel engraving, and glass carving. He pioneered techniques that combined traditional craftsmanship with modernist forms. As a member of the Deutscher Werkbund, his studio trained a generation of major European glass artists—including Kozo Kagami (founder of Kagami Crystal in Japan) and several prominent Czech and German glass designers. His works are highly sought after by collectors and institutions and are present in the permanent collections of several prominent museums, including the Corning Museum of Glass, the Glasmuseum Hentrich in Dusseldorf, the Design Museum in Munich, and the University of Sheffield.
